Expungement
Clear the old charge off your record
A charge that was dismissed years ago can still turn up on every background check. An expungement petition can take it off the public record.
Whether yours qualifies depends on how the case ended, what the charge was and how long ago. Dismissals, not-guilty verdicts and many older convictions can be cleared. Some have to wait a set number of years.
I pull your full record first, so we're working from the same list a landlord or employer sees, then file a petition for each case that qualifies.
Often eligible
Dismissed cases and not-guilty verdicts
Probation that ended without a conviction
Older misdemeanor convictions
Charges the prosecutor dropped

How it goes
From the record check to a clean search
Most petitions take a few months from start to order.
- 01
Step 1: Record check
I pull every case on your record and tell you which ones qualify now, later or not at all.
- 02
Step 2: Petition
I draft and file a petition for each case that qualifies, with the court that heard it.
- 03
Step 3: Waiting period
The state and the police have a set time to object. Most petitions draw no objection.
- 04
Step 4: The order
Once the judge signs, the agencies remove the case. I check that they did.
Expungement questions
Will it disappear completely?
From public searches and most background checks, yes. Some agencies, like the courts and police, can still see a sealed file for limited uses.
Do I have to go to court?
Usually not. A hearing happens only if the state objects, and I go with you if it does.
What if I have several old cases?
Each case is its own petition. I quote the total before filing anything.
